CATHEDRAL OF ASTRONOMY
A Blender project with the focus of practicing building complete sets and set dressing. The concept of the project was to create a visually and narratively interesting render. Given the focus on practice for creating a complete environment, details on individual models were limited and materials were taken from Blenderkit instead of being made from scratch.
INITIAL DESIGN PROCESS
The project began with the concept of merging two stylistically different settings, one of a gothic middle-age cathedral and one of a sci-fi control room. To combine the two styles, elements from each were taken and repurposed to resemble the original parts while integrating characteristics of the opposite style, for example, clerestory windows doubled as display monitors, while gothic pedestals became hologram platforms.
SCENE BUILDING AND FINAL RENDERING
After I was satisfied with the vehicle model and materials I began constructing the composition and scene environment. Fitting with the Halo environment, the scene would be slightly hilly and forested with mountains in the background.
