SPACESHI* ENGINES

Spaceshi* Engines was developed as our entry for the 48 hour 2020 Game Makers Tool Kit Game Jam. The game jam had over 18,000 contestants and 5,300 entries. This years theme for the game jam was "out of control". As such we decided to make our game about a spaceship with malfunctioning engines that occasionally misfire. The player uses either a wrench to stop an engine from misfiring or a fuel canister to activate the engine to guide the spaceship though an asteroid field. The game was developed with two other coders and myself as the artist, all art assets was created during the 48 hours. The development of this game was very informative and an important learning experience. The limited time and predetermined theme forced us to work with constraints. Additionally, this being my first time making pixel art, I gained a lot of experience and understanding of how the medium is used as well as its strengths and shortcomings.
